LO3: Creating Production Materials

Front Cover

For the front cover of my magazine I used different photoshop features for example when editing my photograph I went onto Image- Adjustments- Curves and edited my photograph of Sushi to make it look more grunge, this also makes it stand out more. When editing my text I used strokes to have the masthead more distinct and sans serif font for my cover lines to stick out from the rest of the smaller text. The house colours used in my front cover signify a sense of indie music with bright colours for example yellow and white to show purity within the music. The way my models are posing also relates to how it fits my magazine as they are shown to negligent and just for people to listen to their music as they could also be seen as cool at the same time.

Contents Page

When editing my contents page I used Adobe InDesign to show evidence of editing, I started off inserting rectangle frames insert photographs and texts, I used the colour paint bucket tool to fill the boxes so each box stood out so where I knew where text were going.  I then placed my photographs in the boxes and edited them using shadows to make it stand out. I also used the rectangle frames also and paint bucket tools to have subheadings stand out. Theres also a photograph of me at the bottom to show the target audience of 15-25 to show the author of Plectrum.

Double Page Spread

Similarly with my contents page I edited my double page spread through Adobe InDesign and showed progress through editing my page with these screenshots. At first I started with placing the rectangle frames in 6 different columns for my interview and inserted the main photograph of the band Sushi posing with the masthead above in sans serif find and a yellow stroke to give it some boldness, I then inserted smaller rectangle frames and inserted text in them which consisted of the interview questions for Sushi as seen above . At the bottom of my double page spread I've inserted a pull quote with another stroke this makes it stand out more than it would without it as it is on top of the photograph. The use of using bold writing and strokes fit my magazine as I compared it with a Kerrang magazine which is of a similar genre to mine as they also use bold writing and lay it on top of the photo to show emphasis on the text
