LO1: Specification Terms

  1. Circulation: How many copies of the magazine is made (Distribution and marketing around 3000 copies made)
  2. Readership: How many people read the magazine (more than the circulaion as online copies etc and free copies)
  3. Trim: Where you want the printer to cut it
  4. Bleed:  Background should  fill up to the bleed area
  5. Safe Area: Where your text and images come up to on the page
  6. Frequency: How often magazine is available (D&M weekley, bi-weekley, monthly so will be mothly)

3,4,5 Apply to any media product what is printed for example: Magazines, newspapers, Leaflets, Billboards, Posters, Business cards. In specification section

Refers to the placement of conventions on a magazine page. Important for printing product

LO1: Marketing and distribution methods

Marketing is when you promote your product for people to either buy it or watch etc across different platforms like social media, billoards/posters (traditional, below the line) tv advert/trailers. How a company makes the audience aware of the product. Social media is interatcive get feedback straight away can share/comment also to advertise. Also it is free, reprsent adience which are digital natives

Distribution is when you actually give the product to your audience so if i was a magazine when you sell it to the shops or a media product when it comes out at the cinema. (methods of the product geting to the audience) Free making it availale at paticular locations like corp, 02 academy, show room cinema as a hard copy-printed. Ezine- magazie what is only available online, also use synergy promote.

5 Things needed to be considered for the advertising rates for their magazine (How much a magazine charges advertisers to advertise in the magazine)
  1. Depends on what magazine it is/ if well known will cost more money
  2. Size of the advert
  3. Region/ type of magazine- readership also bigger circulation (how many copies are printed)
  4. Quality of paper
  5. Where it is in the magazine- back will be more expensive more people will see it even if you dont buy the magazine
  6. If they want the magazine to create the advert
Media pack- used to attract advertisers to a magazine/ publication. Will have information on he audience for eample demographics, advertising rates, readership, type of magazine
